Adekunle Adekola, MD, graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 1997. He completed his internship at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria, from 1997 to 1998. He then served as a physician with the Nigerian Airforce during his National Service from 1999 to 2000.
Following his service, Dr. Adekola moved to the United States, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, serving as Chief Resident from 2004 to 2005. During his residency, he was recognized with the Intern of the Year Award in 2002.
Dr. Adekola pursued further specialization through fellowships in Pulmonary Disease at Interfaith Medical Center (2006-2007), where he was Chief Fellow, and in Critical Care Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. He is board-certified in internal medicine (2004), pulmonary medicine (2007), and critical care (2009). Currently, he is on staff at the Medical Center of Lewisville.
His professional interests include respiratory failure and sepsis, and he is dedicated to providing high-quality care to his patients. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Adekola enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and watching sports, particularly hockey and basketball. He is married with two children.
